Well its been a while since I've posted anything here new... I have the menu shell for the Asteroids Vs Zombies project. It got really pop-ish looking haha...

I did this pencil test this last week. Its rough as hell and needs a lot of work, but it came together pretty quickly. I threw some shadows down real quick like to help the motion not look so flat. This is mostly straight ahead animation on 2s.
This is a combination of Photoshop and a little pencil test program called MonkeyJam. http://www.giantscreamingrobotmonkeys.com/monkeyjam/
Monkey jam paired with Photoshop is a pretty good pair. It made testing such a simple task, but it got me thinking.
I cant imagine doing this without a computer... How spoiled right? It makes me respect animation that much more to think about all the animators from back in the day who had to do their sequences and wait for a pencil test machine before seeing how it looked in motion...

Cannonbot news...
A couple new happenings. We're slowly getting a place to keep info about all our games and such.
Version 2.0 is up in the market place now. We addressed a lot of feedback that we collected from the internet. Heres a short video.

About time for an update. Here is our AvZ environment. Still a lot of work left to be done but its come along way since the initial test environment that we were using.
Hope to add a bunch of cool little bits of personality to this city. Its not necessarily grounded in any kind of real world setting so I have a bit of play in terms of style.

A couple new images. I have one working zombie... Hopefully I can build up a few more based on this base mesh... I'm kinda not thrilled by his silhouette... He may go through some mods in the coming weeks... Also messing around with the poster shot... Such a goofy theme we have going its been pretty fun dreaming up ideas. Hopefully when some of the goofier ideas get more fleshed out I'll be able to show more...

Well its about time I put up a little update here. We're hard at work reinventing the wheel for ourselves. Evan went ahead and added all these cool features like pixel shaders and realtime AO to the engine... So now any time I phone in an art asset it shows... a lot haha... Oh well it keeps me honest... The only thing I have to show is some menu art and a head animation test.
I'm playing around with a simple bones rig to see what range of movement I can get in the face. Luckily for me zombies only need to look pissed or really pissed... So I have one bone that controls the brow, three for the tongue. and one for the jaw. So far it gets me what I need without blowing the bone count out of control...

Main menu for Asteroids Vs Zombies. At some point the asteroid will make an appearance... Or will it? Twists and turns everywhere!!!! Or the more likely explanation is that I have no idea what we're making.

On to the next one...
Well in the interest of never sleeping we've started messin around with a new project. Attempting art from another time. I'm a bit in love with the 40s in terms of aesthetic and design right now. my hope here is to be able to convey a bit of that through this project... Going for a bit more of an action genre...
Must... resist urge to make ... zombies...

CannonBotGo! Our XNA experiment...

A couple years ago myself and a friend put together a little puzzle game called Cannonbot Go... Its been more or less done for a while now. We're not exactly sure what to do with it atm, and we kinda mess around with it every couple of months when we're bored... Thought it might be a good idea to start posting all the work we did...
These are screens from the game. The basic idea is you set up a series of action nodes for the little bot to perform as he collects them. These actions allow you to destroy enemy targets and grab the end level switch. There are 48 levels that require you to use a selection of Cannonbots 9 different actions.
Its pretty much the best game ever made...

Here are the environment background art pieces...
